McKayla Maroney is an American retired artistic gymnast and singer born on December 9, 1995, in Aliso Viejo, California. She began training in gymnastics at a young age and went on to become a member of the US Olympics gymnastics team. Maroney won a gold medal as a part of this team at the 2012 London Olympics, where she also became famous for the “not impressed” face she made on the podium. After retiring from gymnastics, Maroney pursued a career in music and released her debut single, “Ghost”, in 2018. She has also been an advocate for mental health awareness and has spoken out about her own struggles with depression and anxiety.
